In order to grow, writers need to cultivate and practice their craft. Fortunately, there is the Denver Woman’s Press Club (DWPC), which has been nurturing and celebrating writers since 1898.

Strengthen your creative muscles at DWPC’s Open Mic on Friday, March 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its historic clubhouse at 1325 Logan. Both members and non-members are welcome. Parking is free in the adjacent lot to the north.

Drinks and snacks are free, and the vibe is priceless. A supportive and friendly audience is eager to hear your work. Take the mic and read a work in progress, a rough draft or a published piece. Bring a friend or cheer on those who read.

Joan Jacobson and Joan Beesley anticipate their time to read.

Drinks start to pour at 5. The mic opens at 5:15 and closes at 6:30. Sign up with Dianne Blomberg at the clubhouse from 5 to 5:15. Time yourself to 5 minutes, 45 seconds. You will be stopped at exactly 6 minutes. There is no advance list. First come, first served. Don’t be late. Spots fill quickly.
