Booklovers Ball

The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation’s annual signature fundraiser, the Booklovers Ball, will be held virtually this year. The event raises funds to support and celebrate Denver Public Library. The 2020 gala, hosted by the Foundation, has been transformed into a dynamic virtual event “Booklovers Online: Bookmarked” and will take place Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020.

The event will include live remarks from Governor Polis and City Librarian Michelle Jeske, a cocktail-mixing demonstration, as well as a featured speaker—New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Kwame Alexander. In addition to reading his latest picture book The Undefeated, Alexander will join Jameka Lewis, Senior Librarian at the Blair-Caldwell African-American Research Library, for a conversation about the role of children’s books and libraries in social and racial justice.

Guests will also enjoy library stories of impact and a musical performance from Bianca and the Fly Boys. In honor of Denver Public Library’s commitment to free and equal access for all, event registration is free.
