Arturo Jimenez Book Launch Celebration
Dreamer’s Nightmare informs us of the very human reasons why children from Central America have been flocking to our border by the thousands since 2014. It also reminds us of the social and political reasons, which have to do with U.S. government intervention, that have pushed their migration into the U.S.
Most people who read this book will be surprised to learn how much the politicians from both major parties have meddled in functioning governments of Latin America and have failed to pass legislation to legalize the 2 to 3 million immigrants brought here as children.
I include my personal experience of having visited Central America in 1998 to observe the aftermath of civil war and to evaluate the the peace accords. The book is a good read as it contains stories of Latino immigrant children that are interwoven with enough charts, graphs and sources to back up the facts in 250 pages.
This book will provide just enough of an overview about what has been happening to immigrant children to allow the reader to be knowledgeable and enter the important conversation, “What do we do about the immigrant children?”
At the same time, it provides enough in-depth analysis and links (direct links on the Kindle version) to information on my website for those already immersed in issues of Latin American studies to sharpen their understanding of the plight of the DREAMERS at the border and those who were brought here long ago as children.
I thank you for your time to read this, look at my website, and perhaps order the book. I look forward to hear what you think of the book and our governments policy of deporting children. I hope to see you all at the event next week.
